November 2007 – Detyens Shipyards Celebrates Their History & Aims for the Future with New Website
Detyens Shipyards launched a new website as a celebration of their history and a testimony to their prowess as a leading ship repair facility on the east coast.

Detyens partnered earlier this year with local marketing and graphic design firm, Zafari Inc. to create a bold new internet presence that would reflect their longstanding history in the Charleston area and provide customers with easy access to essential information regarding the shipyard’s capabilities, location and more.

After being in business for almost 50 years, Detyens has grown from a small family-owned business to the largest shipyard on the eastern seaboard. William Detyens began the shipyard in 1961 after realizing a need for a new ship repair facility in the Charleston area. Primarily focused on naval repair in the beginning, Detyens has been able to expanded their expertise and services to include commercial ships and foreign military vessels, as well.

To help facilitate the dissemination of critical information to Detyens’ international clientele, Zafari designed a unique, animated aerial map with pop-up windows. This feature is a great tool for ships considering docking with Detyens and to ensure easy access to dry dock dimensions and other capacity information. Detyens’ decision to partner with Zafari for this extensive project is the result of a marketing endeavor started earlier this year to enhance Detyens’ market position internationally as a world-class facility with many unique capabilities not found anywhere else on the east coast.
